Contemporary American Artist
My pieces are generally small in scale, ranging from a single drawing on paper to tens of uniform drawings per piece; installed at varying heights, often in grid-like, quilted rows- these similar fragments hang side by side or rest in layered stacks.
Materials consist primarily of found objects, often metal boxes paired with hand-sewn paper and fabric drawings as well as paintings in oil pastel on paper. My work, in part is a symbol of the relationship between internal and external elements- from that which contains to that which is contained.
Much of my work includes text that varies in legibility; it surfaces and recedes as a voice might, revealing the known and the almost-known, the suppression and recollection of memory, the spoken and the silenced.
